From inspiration to melody
There’s usually a deep emotion that ties me to every song I write. During a visit to my brother in Arizona, I woke before dawn with my dad on my mind. He was an evangelist, a pastor, and a man who loved to sing—especially the old hymns from the red‑back hymn book.
As I sat there remembering him lifting his voice in those gospel songs, a melody began rising in my heart. I picked up my brother’s guitar and started shaping the song that had found me. Even now, every time I read the lyrics, I can picture my dad singing them with that same heartfelt passion he always had.

As I explored each name and its meaning, one rose above the rest: the moment Jesus revealed that He is our Father. While many of the other names felt distant to me, this one felt personal. Calling Him Father was something I could truly understand.
